What actually happens at a cocktail masterclass.

Two hours, three drinks, and the answer to why your old fashioned at home tastes thin.

"Masterclass" is a big word for what is, honestly, two hours of drinking well and learning why. Nobody leaves with a certificate. You leave with three cocktails in you, three recipes you can actually repeat, and opinions about ice you didn't have on the way in.

The shape of the two hours

You arrive, you get a welcome drink, and one of our bartenders walks the group through the basics: what shaking does that stirring doesn't, why a jigger matters more than a steady hand, what "balance" means when it's in a glass rather than a yoga studio. Then you make three cocktails yourself, at the bar, with the bartender correcting your technique as you go.

The drinks are ours, signatures from the menu, not a generic mojito conveyor belt. Between rounds there's a grazing board, partly because it's civilised and partly because three cocktails on an empty stomach is a different kind of evening.

Who books it

Birthday groups who want an activity that isn't axe throwing, which is most of what our birthday nights turn into anyway. And a steady stream of work teams, because it turns out "we made drinks and laughed at Steve's pour" beats another dinner where everyone sits next to the same colleague. If that's you, our corporate events page covers private versions.

A fair few people also come alone or as a pair, usually after the third time watching a bartender and thinking, I could do that. You can. It's mostly practice and cold glassware.

The practical bits

£50 per person. Minimum four people, maximum twelve. It runs two hours, includes the welcome drink, the three cocktails you make, and the grazing board. Classes run Sundays and Mondays during the day, and we arrange private classes on other days for groups that want the room to themselves.

It also works as a present for the person who has strong opinions about negronis and nothing left to unwrap. Book the date, hand over an envelope, take the credit.

Dates and booking are on the masterclass page. If you'd rather just drink the cocktails than make them, a table downstairs solves that too.

Your table is waiting downstairs.
